Professional experience

Rohan Exton is the managing director of Construct Write. He formed Construct Write (formerly the Business Public Relations Group) in July 2007. Rohan has particular experience planning, writing, editing, proofing and producing major documents for construction and engineering companies.

Rohan has nearly 20 years of experience in the public relations industry, including nearly three years with McCalls’ Public Relations and Public Affairs leading the association management team, and more than four years with Three Plus, as a Senior Consultant and as team leader of the Corporate Communication Division.

With extensive experience across a broad range of public relations activities, Rohan provides clients with expert advice and solutions using the full range of communication strategies, tactics and tools.

Project highlights

During the past five years, Rohan has been in a number of winning bid and tender production teams for both government and private projects. Acting as editor, he challenges the writing team to ensure that the final document meets all the selection criteria while also portraying the client’s credentials in the best possible manner.

Rohan undertook the first round of community consultation on the Westgate project for the Queensland Government Coordinator-General. The community consultation informed the development of a strategic plan for the future use of surplus government land in the Westgate precinct at Wacol. The Westgate precinct is a key site for managing growth in South East Queensland. The consultation was based on an issues management approach with engagement of the community.

The $1 million Community Environment Fund is a three-year project, which Rohan launched in August 2004. Involving extensive community engagement, the fund’s partners are Powerlink Queensland, Townsville City Council and Thuringowa City Council. Rohan has managed events and conducted media relations to publicise the outstanding work of project volunteers.

Rohan has extensive experience providing specialist public relations and executive/secretariat management services to industry associations across businesses as diverse as child care, health care practice management, body corporate management, recruitment and consulting, resident accommodation management, and building services. For many of these associations he acted as Executive Officer or secretariat manager. His understanding of association processes means that he can plan and implement communications programs to suit their unique needs. He has provided associations with services such as government relations, lobbying, publication production, event management and media relations.

  • Bachelor of Business (Economics), Queensland University of Technology.
